Dear Family Members,
The family reunion was held in Daytona Beach Florida at OceanSide Inn Resort on the beach. Based on the response and feedback received, everyone seem to have had a wonderful time and enjoyment. The Jacksonville Team really enjoyed seeing everyone and hosting this year’s family reunion. As you know our theme was Out of Africa. We were really surprised to see so many different and beautiful African outfits worn by our family members at the banquet. The Jacksonville team was really impressed with how the family members supported this years African theme.
Everyone was into participating in the many different events held throughout the night. All family members were in a festive, gala mood, laughing and talking and they were up and about strutting their stuff. The fashion show was hosted by Tina Harris. There were approximately 25 participants and 3 prize winners. First place prize winner was Jennifer Presley of Gainesville, FL, Second place was Doris Campbell of Fort Lauderdale, FL and third place was Anthony Cleckley and daughter of Delray Beach, Fl. Another contest consisted of first respondent for paying their fees the earliest for the reunion. First place went to Ollie Sims of Niceville, FL, Second place was awarded to Rosetta James of Hasting, FL and third place went to Keturah Campbell-McPhadden of Gainesville, FL. Other recognitions were award to the oldest family member who was Doris Campbell , the youngest family member attending was Bralynn Harris, the person who travel the farthest was presented to Jamie Campbell from Chesapeake, Virginia. Finally, there was a tie between Doris Campbell and Everlena Seymore for the family member who attended the most family reunions (they each sport having missed only one reunion). The family member who was in the spotlight for the 2014 reunion was Reverend Allen James of Hasting. Allen was recognized for frequently keeping in touch with family members and for always rendering words of encouragement and praise.
Sunday service was preached by Reverend Allen James and Tina Harris. Special recognition goes out to the lovely Ollie Sims for standing up in front of our group and singing an old time spiritual song during Sunday Service. The Jacksonville group thanks Samantha James-Tharp for supplying the music and the video entertainment and taking pictures of the family. The pictures and video will be placed on the Web page for everyone enjoyment. The highlight of Saturday night was a religious band, The Gospel Crusades. They really reached the hearts and soul of our family members. All family members were up on their feet rejoicing and clapping their hands. This group was truly inspirational. We were moved to tears.
Feed back on the food was very good which was prepared by Kathy’s catering of Jacksonville, Florida, Fl. The sweet potatoes pies were cooked by Kathy and Nadine and the home made cakes were prepared by Tina Harris.
